Open and closed panel housing solutions

LoCaL Homes offers both closed and open panel housing solutions. Both have many off-site construction advantages. We have carried out a cost comparison (315Kb), which highlights the advantages of our products against traditional brick and block.

Premium closed panel system - Eco 200

Our unique premium closed panel system is designed on Fabric First principles, ensuring our products maintain a high quality standard and deliver affordable housing solutions on time and on budget.

The system comprises a 195mm stud, sheathed on the external face with either oriented strand board (OSB) or magnesium oxide fire board. We offer a fully-finished external product, with cladding and windows fitted in the factory as well as the option to finish with timber, recycled board, render, bespoke rain screen cladding systems and brick work.

The interior side of the panel is  filled with environmentally-friendly recycled insulation and closed with an insulating foil membrane. Counter battens are fitted to create a service void.

Our panels are extremely efficient and achieve:

  • A minimum of 0.18 U-Value for thermal performance
  • Air tightness of around 3.0 m3/hr/m2 @ 50pa
  • 10 decibels over building regulations for sound insulation
  • Code four (equivalent) compliant without need for renewables with the ability to achieve Code five and six (equivalent)
  • EU and UK standards when tested for resistance to fire to BS EN 1365-1.

As well as our premium closed panel, we also offer a traditional timber frame open panel system. Called Eco 100, our traditional frame comprises a 95mm stud, sheathed on the external face with oriented strand board (OSB) or  magnesium oxide fire board.

The interior side of the panel is filled with environmentally-friendly recycled insulation and closed with an insulating foil membrane. Counter battens are fitted to create a service void.

The Eco 100 meets building regulations and provides a minimum of 0.25 U-Value for thermal performance.
