Constructing Excellence Midlands host factory tour at LoCaL Homes

Last week Constructing Excellence Midlands hosted a behind-the-scenes tour of our factory in Walsall in partnership with Excelsior Land Ltd.

The event was an opportunity for visitors to see how modern methods of construction (MMC) are used to build high-quality, high-performance homes.

The visit included a tour of the LoCaL Homes factory floor, as well as presentations from Mike Doolan, our Sales and Partnership Manager, Constructing Excellence Midlands and Excelsior Land Ltd representatives.

Following the presentations, attendees had a tour of our factory, where they observed the offsite manufacturing process, starting from raw materials all the way through to the externally finished, completed panel. The tour also showcased how local SME contractors can harness MMC to streamline projects, enhance sustainability, and meet housing demands more efficiently.

As part of the day attendees also visited our housing project in Coventry. In collaboration with Excelsior Land Ltd, we are developing 19 homes across eight former garage sites throughout the city, including Whoberley, Stoke Aldermoor, Bell Green, Holbrooks and Cheylesmore.

Mike Doolan, Sales and Partnership Manager at LoCaL Homes, said: “It was fantastic to host Constructing Excellence Midlands members alongside Excelsior Land last week.

“We are really proud to be working with Excelsior Land on the Coventry Housing Project and helping to deliver much-needed affordable homes for residents.

“The off-site manufacture of our Eco-200 panels means that the new homes can be built cleaner, greener, quicker, and with less waste compared to other traditional brick-built approaches. By building the panels this way we significantly reduce carbon emissions and once built they will also have greater thermal performance, making every part of this new development more environmentally sustainable.

“We were delighted to host the visit which we hope will cement strong working relationships with both organisations so that we can continue to deliver, together, homes fit for the future.”
